Diana Gore has been certified in Authentic Pilates since 2000. She has been training with Romana Krysanowska and her daughter Sari Mejia-Santo in NYC since 1997 and was hand picked to begin the certification training. Since then, she has taught in Arlington and Alexandria, Virginia at Studio Body Logic from 1998-2005, Joy of Motion Dance Center in Bethesda and Washington, D.C., Maryland Youth Ballet in Bethesda and directed Studio Body Logic 2 in Hagerstown 1998-2005 before opening My Pilates Place in Hagerstown and Frederick.

Diana's background includes extensive training in ballet. modern dance, gymnastics, and floor barre technique. She has coached competitive swimming, gymnastics and taught dance for all levels as well as choreographed and developed off ice training for figure skaters. She performed with the Dayton Chamber Dance Ensemble in Ohio from 1991-1997, nationwide as a member of the Athletes in Action Gymnastics Team from 1973-1977, as well as guest performances with Hosanna Sacred Arts and The David Company.

She coached women's gymnastics at Wheaton College in Illinois and Twigs Gymnastics Club in Ohio, where she was dance trainer for a Junior Elite Select member for the uncontested 1980 Summer Olympic Gymnastics Team.

She holds a B.S. in Psychology from the University of South Carolina and is proud to have birthed and raised four strong, contributing citizens of the United States. Other interests include Costume Design and heirloom sewing as well as studies in the Visual Arts and Theology.

 

Amanda Smith Breon began her study of the Pilates Method of Body Conditioning in 2002 at Excel Movement Studios in Washington, DC. In 2004, Amanda received her certification in the original Pilates Method under the direction of Lesa McLaughlin and Kerry DeVivo after completing a comprehensive 700-hour Teacher Certification Program. Amanda also holds a B.A. in dance with an emphasis in teaching from Mercyhurst College and has been studying various forms of dance for most of her life. Amanda performed with various modern dance companies and taught dance to children and adults throughout Virginia, Maryland and Washington, DC for seven years until recently relocating to Emmitsburg, MD. She currently stands on the teaching faculty of The Metropolitan Ballet Theater and Academy in Rockville, MD, The Hanover Academy of Dance in Hanover, PA and the Pilates Center in Leesburg, VA.

 

 

Heather Abdy is the first student from My Pilates Place to have entered the Apprenticeship Program with Romana's Pilates in the Summer of 2006.
She has passed her Intermediate Exams, completed the Advanced Level Seminars and has begun teaching clients in Hagerstown and Frederick. She continues to commute into Washington D.C. several times a week for the ongoing training at the same time keeping up her teaching schedule at My Pilates Place.
She has had an overwhelmingly postive response to her teaching from her students and is continuing to learn and improve her techniques.
Heather also works at The Skin Care Shop in Shepardstown and is married to Mark Abdy.

Through Yoga, Simone Heurich has been finding balance and discovering peace and joy within. For over 35 years, her passion has been entwined with her journey of discovery into creating optimal health through many facets of life and her study of the living science of Yoga. For over 15 years she has been sharing her love of yoga, guiding thousands of students of all ages, from children to seniors and all abilities, from people physically challenges to ones who are physically fit. She has given talks and workshops on yoga and meditation for students as well as teachers in the Washington County School System, as well as taught classes through Washington County Hospital, and for employees at various companies such as Volvo Powertrain. Her students know she genuinely loves helping them learn the subtleties and nuances of the practices of yoga. She has studied with teachers from a variety of traditions, taking hundreds of hours of workshops and has several teaching certifications. Among them, she is certified in the Anusara style of Hatha Yoga, originated by John Friend, her most influential teacher. She is also certified in Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy, and is a Registered Teacher with the Yoga Alliance, meeting their requirements for their 500 hour level of certification.

Simone offers a variety of levels of instruction for students of all abilities and stages of life, through series of classes and special workshops at a number of different venues. In Washington County, Maryland she teaches at her Flowering Heart Yoga studio near Smithsburg, and in Hagerstown at My Pilates Place, and Hagerstown Community College for credit and continuing education. She also offers retreats locally, and internationally, combining inner and outer explorations with yoga and travel in harmonious settings. Her approach focuses on creating optimal alignment, increasing strength and flexibility, as well as celebrating the wholeness and interconnectedness of body, mind, and spirit. Through encouraging self awareness and self acceptance she empowers students to reconnect with their own joy and inner peace. Students come to celebrate themselves fully in the moment, to reclaim a more vibrant body, a more peaceful mind and a more joyful heart.

Lata Data, born and raised in India, has been practicing yoga for the last 35 years. She learned yoga in her backyard while watching her father practice early every morning. She enjoys expanding her practice continously with her father and daughter. Now, when Lata goes to India she finds it thrilling to give yoga tips to her father. Lata also values her recent experience learning from Katie Cariffe and Larry Schultz at It's Yoga in San Francisco and with Danny Paradise in Khaknar, India. During her annual visits to India, Lata takes classes in yoga and meditation at the Yogendra Yoga Institute of Santa Cruz, Mumbai.

Lata was recently a guest yoga instructor and lecturer at teacher training held for school teachers of the Washington County Board of Education in Maryland. Lata teaches weekly classes at two assisted living homes, one nursing home and to adolescents and adults at Brooklane Hospital, a psychiatric center. She also has scheduled classes that are open to the community. She enjoys bringing yoga into her community as part of th Usha Yoga vision. She was recently featured in the Herald-Mail.

 

Tara Horst participated in her yoga teacher training from 2002 to 2004 progressing through YogaFit Training Systems Worldwide program consisting of four levels of coursework, independent teaching, and self-study to meet the Yoga Alliance's standards for Registered Yoga Teacher 200-hour status. Additionally, she completed trainings with YogaFit for Kids and Seniors. Tara has taught yoga privately to individuals, in a studio environment, in fitness centers, to kids in elementary school, and for her university students. She continues her yoga training and practice through ongoing self-study and by participating in classes and workshops at other yoga studios.

Katie Norris graduated from Synergy Healing Arts Center and Massage School in Gettysburg, PA. She was Maryland State and National Certified in 2000. She is part of the AMTA. She is also certified in La Stone Therapy as of 2002, Pregnancy and Post-Partum in 2004, Cranial Sacral Massage in 2004, and Reike Master since 2003. Katie's most recent training has been in 2006, the Cranial Sacral Massage Therapy.

Sitamun
began teaching Belly Dance classes in the Frederick, Maryland area the fall of 2000 and has studied Belly Dance since 1985 in the US and in Europe with a variety of master teachers. Her studies of Middle Eastern Dance have included Ghawazee, Turkish Oriental, Egyptian Oriental, Raks el-Sayf (Sword Dancing), Turkish spoon dance, Gypsy (ROM) Dance, Khaleegi (Saudi or Gulf "Thobe Nashal" Dance), Raks al Assaya (Cane Dance), Raks al Shemadan(Candelabrum Dance), Raks Al Senniyya (Tray Dance and Spanish Fusion. She is renowned for her Raks Al Senniyya (Tray Dance). Besides classical oriental style and folkloric styles of Middle Eastern Dance, she has studied ballet, jazz and tap. She continues to refine her belly dance skills by studying Egyptian Style Rak Sharki and taking seminars and workshops with Master Teachers.

Her performances have been at ethnic festivals, private parties, dance reviews, belly grams, and restaurants. She was a member of, Dancers of the Blue Nile Troupe, from 1990 -1994 under the direction of Nazife. Recently Sitamun has been feature in articles in the Frederick News and Post and the Frederick Gazette. In November 2002 she taught Belly Dance instruction for the Student Culture Society at Mount Saint Mary’s and performed in their Gala Dance Review that feature dancing from around the world. She now directs her own student dance troupe, Tears of Aset. Her troupe has performed not only locally but has delighted audiences from Pennsylvania to North Carolina. Sitamun believes dancing is for everyone no matter how young or old they maybe. She enjoys creating her own original choreographs. She modifies and blends the techniques of Turkish and Egyptian styles to form her own unique style of Raks Sharki. Along with teaching and performing, she is also a workshop and show sponsor. Outside of Belly Dance, Sitamun is a certified Webmaster and holds a BA in Spanish Studies and Art. She is also an Ancient Egyptian history enthusiast and developed the website maatkare.com, a site devoted to Queen Hatshepsut. She selected her dance name to display her admiration for this historical era. Sitamun is pronounced similar to sit a moon in English. She is also a practitioner of Yoga and has recently taken up Pilates.
